About Marcon
Founded in 1996, Marcon has built its reputation through consistent delivery on complex projects. We are a principal contractor trusted to work in live, sensitive and operational environments.

Our story
Martin Rockley founded Marcon in 1996. Thirty years on, it has grown the way it started: through long-term relationships, personal accountability and a commitment to doing things properly.
A significant amount of our work comes from repeat clients and long-standing relationships, across healthcare, education, central government and the wider public sector, and the private sector — NHS trusts, schools and academy trusts, government agencies, and private-sector clients who come back for the next project.
We are increasingly involved from the earliest stage: pre-construction, design coordination and buildability, planning, procurement, logistics and programme, and then delivery. Marcon is an experienced principal contractor that manages complex projects from early engagement to completion, particularly in live, sensitive and operational environments.
Marcon is independent and people-led, combining strong systems and technical capability with the accessibility and personal accountability of an independent business. Our senior people stay involved in delivery, working with an established supply chain and to consistent systems and standards.
How we work
Early involvement
Pre-construction, design coordination and buildability reviews, so programme, logistics and cost are planned before anyone is on site.
Expertise
Thirty years of complex projects in hospitals, schools, government buildings and working commercial premises, and the technical knowledge that comes with it.
Responsiveness
Timely communication and quick action. Our team is set up to give fast, practical answers, so a decision waiting on us is not what holds a programme up.
Professionalism
The same conduct from first survey to final certificate.
Collaboration
We work closely with clients, partners and our own teams, and we keep communication open. It produces better results and environments that genuinely meet the needs of everyone using them.
Integrity
Honesty, transparency and accountability. We are clear about what we will deliver, and we answer for it.
Our team
Our people are trusted to make decisions and take real responsibility for project delivery. Our senior team has grown with the business, working within the same systems, alongside the same supply chain and to the same standards that underpin every Marcon project.
Social value
We dedicate time and resources to community engagement, education, sustainability and environmental performance, and to tangible benefits for the communities around our projects.
- Work experience and placements. We engage with local schools, colleges, educational charities and local authorities, offering access to learning opportunities, work experience and placements.
- Keeping the community informed. We look at the effects a project will have on its neighbours — noise, traffic, dust — put mitigation in place, and tell people in advance about anything that cannot be avoided.
- Championing local. We aim to staff our projects with people who live within 25 miles of site, and to use a local supply chain. It supports the local economy and cuts our emissions.
Our vision
To be the contractor healthcare, education, public-sector and commercial clients come back to: known for technical knowledge, for working openly with everyone on a project, and for buildings that are safe, efficient and sustainable, and that serve the people who use them for years.
The people you deal with.
Clients still have direct access to the people making the decisions. Marcon’s directors stay involved in the projects the business takes on, and they answer for them.
