The Project
Marcon Construction delivered a new temporary MRI waiting area pod to support two mobile MRI units at West Middlesex Hospital.
The project included demolition of an existing canopy and construction of a light gauge steel (LGS) framed, single-ply roofed structure, linked internally to the main hospital.
Scope included:
- Full M&E integration, drainage, fire systems
- Internal corridor construction
- Refurbishment of a Bone Density Room and office relocation
Challenges:
The works were carried out directly in front of the Resus Unit and Emergency Department ambulance drop-off. This required tight coordination, traffic management, and careful scheduling to maintain full emergency access in a live clinical environment.
Outcome:
Delivered on time with minimal disruption, the new pod improves patient flow and supports the hospital’s diagnostic services.
