The Project
Marcon Construction was appointed to deliver essential Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) refurbishment works at Darrick Wood Junior School, funded through the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).
The project focused on improving safety and compliance across key areas of the school, including the sports hall, classrooms, and toilets. The scope included:
- Fire stopping and upgraded fire doors
- Installation of new lighting systems
- Asbestos removal
- Electrical upgrades and application of fire-resistant sealants
To avoid disruption to teaching, all works were scheduled during the six-week summer holiday period. Although the school remained operational for administrative functions, Marcon worked collaboratively with the Trust and school leadership to ensure safe, phased delivery and strict compliance with safeguarding protocols.
The project was delivered on time and to a high standard, significantly enhancing the fire safety and long-term resilience of the school environment.
